ASHTON CHILDREN IN NEED November 1st 03. Hyde Fundraisers invaded the
Arcades Shopping Centre in Ashton-under-Lyne to raise funds for this year's
Children-In-Need Appeal. It was also our tribute to the series 40th anniversary
with appearances by some of the Doctor's arch enemies to include Dalek's,
Cybermen, Tetrap, Sea Devil and other sci-fi characters joining in the
fun! The collection boosted fundraising for Children-In-Need which started
at Dimensions and has now raised over £500 for this years appeal!
WILLOW
WOOD FIREWALK October 12th 03. Hyde Fundraisers once again came to the
aid of Willow Wood Hospice to support their Event at The Village Hotel
in Dukinfield. The dreaded Daleks once again made their prescence felt
along with a Sontaran
and Heamavore to gang up on the Fifth Doctor! In addition they were joined
by characters from the Star Wars saga which included a Stormtrooper, Bikerscout,
Darth Maul, Boba Fett and Jawas!
DIMENSIONS
ON TYNE !! September 13th/14th 03. This was the third of the successful
Dimensions conventions. Organisers assembled an impressive guest list
which included Elisabeth Sladen, Colin Baker, Sylvester McCoy, Nicola
Bryant, Carole Ann Ford and Ray Cusik. Fundraisers Phil Robinson spent
the weekend working on an impressive sculpt of Sutekh while other group
members were shaking a bucket for Children-In-Need. We also took the opportunity
to recognise the input of member John Field who has been supporting the
group for almost 18 years. A special presentation photograph was presented
by Ian Taylor to a delighted John at the event!
LLANGOLLEN
DAY August 17th 03. North Wales was a great day for those at the Llangollen
Exhibition Centre. The sixth Doctor himself, Colin Baker, was on hand
chatting and signing autographs for the many who had turned up to support
him. In addition Hyde Fundraisers were around providing the usual array
of characters plus a few additional attractions from the world of Star
Wars! The group was raising money once again for Ovacome - the ovarian
Cancer charity.
LONGLEAT
DR WHO DAY August 3rd 03. Once again the sun was shining brightly on
Longleat Dr Who Day. Visitors were treated to one of the biggest ever
gathering of Daleks which patrolled around Longleat's grounds. Hyde Fundraisers
also supplied even more villains in the form of Auton, Heamavore, Sontaran,
Cybermen and more to entertain the crowds once again. Guests making an
appearance were Colin Baker, John Leeson and Sophie Aldred. A special
40th birthday cake was cut to celebrate the anniversary! Keep watching
our gallery page over the next few months for exclusive images!
SCI-FI WEEKEND July 19th/ 20th 03. Ashton-under-Lyne was invaded by characters
from
Star Wars, Dr Who and many more. Once again the benefitting charity from
the Event was Willow Wood Hospice raising over £540. It was organised
by Ashton Town Centre Management in association with Hyde Fundraisers.
The local bakers, Trifles, crafted a superb Dalek cake with slices being
sold to raise over £47! We were grateful once again to the UK Garrison
through their representatives Simon, Phil and Giles who raided the town
centre to search out rebel spies. It was also great to have the return
of Robocop along with a superb 'Terminator' both courtesy of Steve Hird.
Apart from the Fundraisers 'Genesis' Dalek we also had the Silver 'Death'
version from Andy Loring and Gareth Nolan's Imperial from 'Remembrance'.
